Hija Mia ("My Daughter") This song comes from the Sephardic tradition of Spanish-speaking Jews expelled from Spain in the 15th Century. The language is Ladino, a dialect of Spanish with archaic features.
Basing House's Family Tudor Day 2013
"Les Bouffons" and "Helas Madame" played and sung at Basing House, Hampshire. Helas Madame was allegedly written by Henry VIII to proclaim undying love to one woman for all of his life. The video includes our late percussionist Mike Edwards.
